Our Ministries

Plymouth UCC began making pasties in 1955 as both a fundraiser and a community activity. In earlier years, pasties were made monthly for nine months of the year, providing a significant source of funding for the church. The tradition also brought together people from throughout the community, including some who were not members of the church.
That spirit of community continues today. While pasty-making is now primarily a community activity, the tradition remains an important part of Plymouth UCC. Pasties are made three times each season—in November, January, and March.
Making more than 700 pasties in a single morning is truly a team effort. Two shifts of a dozen volunteers work together to prepare the pasties, while another three to four people remove them from the baking sheets and package them for customers.
With the exception of slicing the potatoes—which would be nearly impossible to do by hand while keeping up with production—every part of the pasty-making process is done by hand. From mixing and preparing the dough to filling each pasty and carefully crimping the edges, our volunteers take pride in every step of the process.
We may be a little biased, but we firmly believe Plymouth UCC makes the best pasties in town!

 

A Moment of Faith is just that. An opportunity for us all to take some time from our day to think about what enriches us in our faith walk. These include short messages and video clips from Pastor Michael, as well as opportunities for others to share moments of faith from their personal lives that have been inspiring and enriching. On chosen Sundays, we take an opportunity to recognize and thank those in our community who serve with an invitation to join us in music, fellowship and food.

On the 3rd Wednesday of each month, from 6:00p.m. – 7:30p.m., our sanctuary is open to all who wish to spend quiet time in prayer or meditation.

Have you provided an act of kindness to someone? Have you received an act of kindness from someone else? We need to express and share kindness more than ever and we want to give recognition to those who take time to spread that in our world. If you have been blessed by an act of kindness from someone or blessed someone with your own kindness, pass along your story and we’ll share it.

On selected Sundays, we make space for the wisdom, questions, stories, and reflections that live within our community. Instead of a traditional sermon, we select a topic for conversation and then listen for how God speaks through one another. Every voice matters, every story carries light, and together through sharing, we discover what the Spirit is stirring among us.
